Mostly Pre-Recollect And First Era Related.Tips and Things You Need to Know Introduction The game has a very unique (not necessarily in a good way) progression path. ![]() And on top of that very gimmicky rogue-like elements, wich more or less just surving a purpose of being a rogue-like (and for lore, kinda). Mostly Pre-Recollect And First Era Related Down below I wil try to warn you of some mechanics and design choices, which are pretty counterintuitive, if you played similar games before, so you maybe won’t instantly get bored of pointless grind. The game is extremely punishes you for squad favouritism, with a sacrifice mechanic. In case you only just finished a tutorial and already checking guides (no blame for that in this game), you will be faced with a sacrifice mechanic. Basically, you can only heal your squad unit by sacrificing another squad unit of the same level or higher. You maybe thought for a second, like: “Hmm, interesting stuff, makes a game more challenging, and demand a very strategic and smart play”. ![]() And well, you will be partially right, unfortunately it’s take very long time to level up, mainly because you can only do 1 mission with a character a day. So you can be in a situation, when you just won’t have time to level up sacrifice material. And it will just drop down to a pointless grind and self-restrictions on gameplay. You should always prioritize equalising levels of “Daughters” in your pool (despite the fact, that you will get extremely fat stat boost for each level). Here is some tips regarding early gameplay. You only have to complete 1 synapse a day, so use that to balance exp gain. Early it is better to spend your vitae for buying “Daughters”.Skip synapses if you don’t want to overlevel someone for example. Skill upgrades are too expensive at the start. You can face tank with 2 shieldbearers and gungirl. When you have sufficient amount of squads to close as much synapses as you can, start to equip memories (and not hurting level equalising). Small guys deal almost 0 damage, and dungerous hunters can be bullied to death with a slam spam (and you will never see them on the timeline ever again). For the boss – it is better to switch 1 shield for a gun. Enemies, that are about to spawn (you will see the hands on the ground), will only move closer to you on spawning, unless you are standing just in the next square.I saw a guide about first boss, go lookup there the tactics. If you don’t want to recollect more than you need, lookup boss tactics. So you can camp spawn points at least 1 square away without fearing to take damage. Game is completly designed around absent knowledge (you will loose almost no matter what, if you fighting a boss with a wrong roster) and stat walls. Upon playing you will unlock extremely powerful buffs. In combat you don’t really have to waste AP for moving to enemies.Plus, you will be able to ressurect any Daughter of any level right from the start (or you can save them for boss). Othercide is really not as grindy as it looks because Daughters are meant to be disposable (hence the sacrifice mechanic) and it does a great job setting up checkpoints throughout the game so you never feel like you've wasted your time and lost progress.ĭream mode will probably make the game faster, but it will be because it will be made easier since you won't really have to worry about health (unless you mess up really bad) or consider sacrificing daughters, which kind of trivializes two core mechanics of the game.Just wait for them to come as close as possible and attack. It takes an average of 56h just to complete the main story, while Othercide takes less than half that time. ![]() Radiant mode (in DD) focuses on making the game progress faster (faster EXP gain), while Dream mode in Othercide focuses on making the game easier (HP regen).ĭarkest Dungeon is an amazing game, but it's extremely grindy and doesn't really respect the player's time. I'll try not to repeat what other have already said by mainly pointing out what I think is a disconnect between the two things you're comparing. ![]()

A subreddit for Planet Coaster by Frontier. ![]() ![]() ![]() The approximation above is quite rough, and storage densities continue to climb, but keep things in perspective: in the future, to pull off this stunt of constructing maximally-sized ZFS pools, we'll still need to use the total crust-to-core resources of small planets. Only solid-state storage makes sense here. We have to assume that this Earth-sized ZFS pool will be composed of vdevs that never need replacing, and that they can transfer data fast enough that you can fill the pool in a reasonable time. If you think it's unfair that I'm using flash storage here instead of something denser like tape or disk, consider the data rates involved, as well as the fact that we haven't even tried to consider redundancy or device replacement. such that you don't end up with so much slag that you blow the estimate. That means that to a first approximation, to construct a single maximally-sized ZFS pool out of the current largest-available microSD cards, you might have to use an entire Earth-sized planet's worth of atoms, and then only if you start off with something close to the right mix of silicon, carbon, gold, etc. We also need some slop here to account for inter-chip interconnects, etc.Ī pico- anything is 10 -12, so our 47 pg and 2.5×10 -13 g/B numbers above are about an order of magnitude apart. The density of data in grams is 2.5×10 -13 g/byte for microSD storage, as of this writing: the largest available SD card is 1 TB, and it weighs about 0.25g.¹ A microSD card isn't made of pure silicon, but you can't ignore the packaging, because we'll need some of that in our Earth-computer, too we'll assume that the low density of the plastic and the higher density of the metal pins average out to about the same density as silicon. We can write that number instead as roughly 10 38 bytes, which means in order to hit that limit, you'd have to have a single Earth-sized ZFS pool where every one of its 10 50 atoms is used to store data, and each byte is stored by an element no larger than 10 12 atoms.ġ0 12 atoms sounds like a lot, but it's only about 47 picograms of silicon. volume sizeĢ 128 bytes is effectively infinite already. Now let's discuss the practical import of each of those limits: Max. A filesystem based on arbitrary sized integers would have to piece each number together from multiple blocks, requiring a lot of extra I/O from multiple disk hits relative to a filesystem that knows up front how big its metadata blocks are. The speed hit from arbitrary precision arithmetic is bad enough inside a computer's RAM, but when a filesystem doesn't know how many reads it needs to make in order to load all of the numbers it needs into RAM, that would be very costly. If you want fast arithmetic, you use fixed-size words, period. There are exceptions, but these are usually mathematics-oriented DSLs like bc or Wolfram Language. This is why arbitrary-precision arithmetic is an add-on library in most programming languages, not the default way of doing arithmetic. The alternative is called arbitrary-precision arithmetic, but it's inherently slow. ZFS's limits are based on fixed-size integers because that's the fastest way to do arithmetic in a computer.
